PREVENTION OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE (PSEA)

1. Introduction :

ASSHO is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity, safety, and dignity in all its programs and operations. This Policy Framework outlines our commitment to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse, aligning with the principles laid out by the United Nations and other relevant organizations.

2.  Definitions
  • Sexual Exploitation: Sexual exploitation is the actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, power, or trust, for sexual purposes, including but not limited to rape, sexual assault, and transactional sex.
  • Sexual Abuse: Sexual abuse refers to actual or threatened physical intrusion of a sexual nature, whether by force or under unequal or coercive
3.  Policy Statement

ASSHO is committed to:

  • Zero Tolerance: Maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to sexual exploitation and abuse within the organization.
  • Consistency with International Standards: Ensuring that this PSEA Policy Framework is consistent with international standards, including those set by the United
4.  Roles and Responsibilities
  • Executive Leadership: The Board of Directors and the Executive Director are responsible for providing leadership, setting the tone, and overseeing the implementation of this PSEA
  • PSEA Focal Point: A designated PSEA focal point will be appointed to oversee PSEA- related activities and coordinate prevention, reporting, and response
  • All ASSHO Staff and Associates: All staff and associates of ASSHO, including partners and contractors, are responsible for adhering to this policy and preventing sexual exploitation and
5.  Preventive Measures
  • Code of Conduct: ASSHO will establish and communicate a clear and concise code of conduct that explicitly prohibits sexual exploitation and
  • Training and Awareness: Regular PSEA training programs will be conducted for all staff, partners, and associates to raise awareness and provide guidance on reporting
  • Reporting Mechanisms: ASSHO will establish confidential and accessible mechanisms for reporting incidents and concerns related to sexual exploitation and

6.  Reporting and Investigation

  • Reporting Incidents: All staff, partners, and associates must report any suspicions or incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse to the designated reporting
  • Investigation: ASSHO will conduct thorough and impartial investigations into reported incidents, ensuring respect for the rights of all parties involved.
  • Support to Victims: ASSHO will provide support and assistance to victims of sexual exploitation and abuse, including referrals to appropriate service
7.  Disciplinary Actions
  • Accountability: If sexual exploitation or abuse is substantiated, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken, consistent with legal and organizational
  • Legal Action: If the case involves a criminal offense, ASSHO will cooperate with law enforcement agencies in pursuing legal
8.  Reporting to Authorities and Stakeholders
  • Reporting to Authorities: In cases of criminal sexual exploitation or abuse, ASSHO will fully cooperate with relevant law enforcement
  • Reporting to Stakeholders: ASSHO will communicate with stakeholders, donors, and the public, as required by law and in a manner that respects the privacy and dignity of all involved
9.  Policy Review

    This PSEA Policy Framework will be periodically reviewed to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with international standards.
